Avon Oaks Golf Course

Avon Oaks Championship Course plays at 7002 yards and presents a challenging round for the experienced player yet is quite playable for the beginner. With tee sets ranging from 5525-6835 yards, we offer a wide variety of four other tee options.
Host of several Northern Ohio PGA Professional events and USGA qualifiers, the course is one of the finest on the west side of Cleveland, Ohio.
Hole #1
This opening Par 5 has OB down the left side and bunkers covering the lest and right sides of the fairway, with another 80 yards from the green. A wise second shot is played to avoid two greenside bunkers both left and right of the green. Play up to or carry the bunker to attack a green that is sloped toward the golfer.
Hole #2
A Par 4 defined by trees on the right and fairway bunkers on the left and middle of this hole. The second shot is played to an elevated, subtly undulated green.
Hole #3
The first of four Par 3's to challenge the player; this medium length hole is narrow and plays slightly uphill. The green is deeper than it appears from the tee. Newly renovated with a retaining wall, multiple teeing areas and water that runs right up to the edge of the green.
Hole #4
The first of several dogleg par 4's throughout the course, hole four is a dogleg right after a drive is played between water on the right and sand on the left.
Hole #5
The longest of the Par 4's at AOCC, this straight away hole requires a wood to long iron approach from a wide fairway, defined by OB on the left and sand on the right.
Hole #6
The final Par 5 on the front nine requires a straight drive to a narrow fairway bordered by trees and OB on the left. A creek cuts across the fairway about 125 yards from the elevated green. Greenside bunkers come into play for most players both left and right side of the green.
Hole #7
This dogleg left Par 4 is shorter than some, but OB on the left water and sand must be negotiated off the tee. The approach shot is played to a wide, well bunkered green, as well as water that sits directly left and behind the green.
Hole #8
The longest Par 3 at Avon Oaks is played to an elevated green that is deeper than it appears. Pay attention to any wind when making your club selection.
Hole #9
This attractive Par 4 starts wide open and narrows beginning at the 150 yard marker as the golfer approaches the green. The big green is well guarded by bunkers and trees. Two teeing options on this hole provide either a straight shot or a slight dog leg left as the markers change boxes throughout the season.
Hole #10
The second nine begins with a narrow Par 5 where a creek cuts across the middle of the hole, which is defined by trees on the left and on the right. The approach is played to a medium size, elevated green.
Hole #11
This challenging Par 4 is played from an elevated tee to a fairway bordered by sand on the left and trees on the right. The green slopes from front left to back right and is guarded by trees.
Hole #12
The 12th is the Signature Hole at Avon Oaks - a tree lined par 3 that can play 125 to 175 yards. The hole is accented by a creek that runs from the tee to the L side of the well bunkered green. The trees that define the hole surround the most undulated green on the course. A hole that must be played short of the flagstick.
Hole 13
The 13th Hole is a challenging long par 4 played into a southerly breeze most of the time. The tee shot is played from a chute of trees to a narrow fairway defined by sand on the left and right. The raised green has a feature bunker on the left hand side, but the player needs to stay below the pin - especially with a most dangerous front hole location, bringing a false front into play.
Hole #14
The difficulty of the dog leg right 14th hole depends on the wind direction and speed. With the wind out of the southwest, the player can be more aggressive and challenge the creek and water on the right to leave a shorter approach. When played into a cool northeast wind, a lay up tee shot puts pressure on a much longer second shot to an elevated, well bunkered green.
Hole #15
The shortest Par 4 on the course is well guarded by trees on both sides of the fairway and should leave a medium to short iron approach to a green guarded by large trees on the left and bunkers surrounding the green.
Hole #16
This straight forward Par 4 is self descriptive - what you see is what you get! Place your tee shot between the fairway bunkers on both sides and your uphill approach will be played to a wide, elevated green.
Hole #17
The final Par 3 is one that demands length, accuracy and confidence. Depending on the wind, the hole can be played with anything from a medium iron to a fairway wood, but the green sits between sand left, long and right; and water short and right. The green slopes gently toward the golfer.
Hole #18
This closing par 5 requires an accurate tee shot from a long tee, with bunkers coming in to play off most tee shots up the right side of the fairway. The players second shot to a narrowing fairway and an approach toward the clubhouse to undulated green that slopes away and to the right. Bunkers surround the narrow opening to this tough green that slopes away from the player.

Avon Oaks Country Club features a well manicured golf course defined by many oak trees, narrow fairways, newly renovated bunkers and lightning fast greens. The classic design by noted architect Harold Paddock, with continued improvements by Geoffrey Cornish and Brian Huntley, stands the test of time. While the golf course accommodates the beginning golfer, it also challenges the skilled player. (PGA Tour Member Anthony Kim held the course record for 12 months!).

The Championship yardage tops out at just over 7000 yards, yet the course is played from Blue Tees at 6474 yards, Green Tees at 6018 yards, as well as White Tees at 5525 yards so that players of all levels can enjoy the game. The course features 5 new Ladies Tees and is rated at 5168 and 4878 yards respectively for the Ladies. Avon Oaks is a "PGA Family Course" where Juniors just learning the game may play from permanent tee markers in the ground for par 3s, 4s, and 5s that are age, length and ability appropriate.

The Golf Program caters to every level of golfer with events, tournaments and clinics and instruction to introduce the young golfer (regardless of age) to the game, and continue to challenge and improve the refined player. The Practice Range, Short Game Practice Facility and Practice Putting Green are available for your game improvement but are also hubs of Avon Oaks' Social activity as many enjoy time with friends on the range and putting alongside the golf patio. We are proud to announce the completion of our 4 year golf course renovation as well as newly updated practice facilities - all of which were designed in conjunction with our golf course master plan.
